TuuraHub is the rental platform we wanted ourselves — both as the people hunting for places to live and as the people running them. We're renters, landlords, and software engineers based in Kampala, tired of rentals run on spreadsheets, sticky notes, and WhatsApp threads.

The story
Two problems, same root cause.
Some of us were renters chasing landlords on WhatsApp for vacant units, screenshots of leases, and lost receipts — paying agency fees for the privilege. Some of us were the landlords on the other side, running rentals from a seventeen-tab spreadsheet and a phone gallery full of payment proofs.
We tried the obvious fixes. Bigger spreadsheets. US-built software that priced in dollars and assumed everyone paid by ACH. Classified listings that hadn't been updated since the unit got rented out. None of it fit how renting actually works here. So we did what software people do when they can't find the tool: we built it.
TuuraHub started as a side project for one landlord and a handful of frustrated renters. It now powers public listings, online applications, leases, and rent collection across Kampala — and is opening up to the rest of East Africa. Built around how renting actually works here: mobile money, monthly cash, photo receipts, multiple currencies, and tenants who may or may not have email.
Who builds this
Three perspectives in every release.
Renters
People who’ve lost a deposit, paid an agency for a unit they never saw, or chased a landlord for a receipt. The browse-and-apply experience is built by people who’ve been on the other side of it.
Landlords
People with units of their own. Every feature gets pressure-tested against real tenants, real receipts, and the real chaos of property management.
Tech people
Engineers who’ve shipped at scale. We obsess over the boring stuff — backups, audit logs, performance — so you never have to think about it.

Most rental software treats tenants as data — a row in a landlord’s ledger. We treat them as users, with their own portal, their own search, and their own application history.
